5 Common Car Care Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)
Share
1️⃣ Use dish soap instead of car shampoo
Many people think they're being clever by washing their car with dish soap. Bad idea! Dish soap not only removes dirt, but also layers of wax and coating — leaving your paint unprotected.
✅ Always use a pH neutral shampoo:2️⃣ Use one sponge for everything
Using the same sponge for paint, rims, and sills? That's asking for scratches. Grains of sand from your rims end up on your paint.
✅ Work with separate cloths and mitts:- View detailing accessories
- Use the two-bucket method for safe washing
3️⃣ Wash in the sun
Washing in direct sunlight seems convenient, but it causes shampoo and water to dry too quickly. The result: limescale stains and streaks.
✅ Always wash in the shade or in the morning/early evening for best results.4️⃣ Do not use microfiber cloths when drying
An old towel or chamois might absorb water, but it will cause micro-scratches. Microfiber is softer, safer, and more absorbent.
✅ Use:5️⃣ Skip rims and tires
A glossy paint job with dirty rims and brown tires detracts from the overall look. Brake dust can also damage your rims.
✅ Use:✨ This is how you prevent damage and disappointment
Car care doesn't have to be a "detail horror story." With the right products and techniques, you can keep your car looking good for longer and prevent expensive paint damage.
